Warning signs

Is your siding failing?

Island rain is hard on exteriors. Small problems become expensive ones when water gets behind your walls.

Rot and soft spots

Moisture behind the boards can spread into sheathing and framing — a far bigger repair bill.

Moss and staining

Constant damp breaks down finishes and traps water against your walls.

Cracks, warping and gaps

Openings let rain and pests in, raising heating costs and causing hidden damage.

Faded or peeling paint

Exposed wood absorbs water fast, and curb appeal (and resale value) drops.

Book a free siding inspection

Water behind siding doesn’t stay small. A small repair today can become rot in the sheathing and framing.

The detail behind the siding

Built to drain. Built to dry.

A rainscreen leaves a ventilated gap between the wall and siding. Rain drains down and out, air flows up to dry the wall, and a bug screen at the bottom keeps insects from nesting behind your siding.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does new siding cost in Nanaimo?

Siding cost depends on wall area, material, removal and preparation. Vinyl is generally cheapest, followed by LP SmartSide, James Hardie and cedar; metal varies by product. A fixed written quote follows a free on-site visit.

How long does a siding project take?

A typical home takes 1–3 weeks to re-side. Size, material, wall repairs and weather affect the schedule, which we discuss before work begins.

Do I need a permit?

Routine re-siding often does not need a permit, but structural alterations may. We check the project's scope and local requirements before work starts.

Will you clean up?

Yes, we clean up the site. Daily tidying, nail checks and disposal of old material are part of the work.

Do you offer financing?

Ask us about current financing options during your estimate. Availability and terms must be confirmed before you commit.

Which siding is best for Vancouver Island's rain?

Fibre cement installed over a properly detailed rainscreen is a strong choice for Vancouver Island's rain. LP SmartSide, vinyl and cedar can also perform well when flashing, drainage and maintenance suit the material.

What is a rainscreen and do I need one?

A rainscreen is a drained, vented gap behind the siding that lets water escape and walls dry. In wet coastal climates like Vancouver Island, the BC Building Code requires one, and we include it on every siding job.

Can you repair siding instead of replacing it?

Yes, localized siding damage can often be repaired instead of replacing the whole exterior. We inspect the wall beneath it and check whether matching materials are available.

Do you serve Nanaimo if you're based in Cassidy?

Yes, Nanaimo is our main service area. Cassidy is about 15 minutes south, so we regularly work throughout Nanaimo and Central Vancouver Island.
